SUMMARY
Some of these compounds, e_g, Na2 B4 O5 (OH)4 ·8H2 O (borax) and the zinc borate ZnB3 O4 (OH)3, are of great importance for many industrial applications. Other compounds, e_g, β-BaB2 O4 (BBO) have more specialized small-scale applications and the physicochemical properties of others are currently being actively investigated for new potential applications. H and 13 C NMR were obtained for compounds 1 and 3-6 dissolved in D O and these 2 all gave spectra consistent with the appropriate guanidinium cations being present, e_g, the 1 H spectrum of compound . . .
