    Tissue-specific stem_cells are believed to be key to the formation of monoclonal ULs, as they are characterised primarily by their capacity for asymmetric cell division and further differentiation. UL stem_cells have several differences from those of the myometrium. At the same time, UL stem_cells as well as myometrium-derived stem_cells are deficient in oestrogen or progesterone receptors. To grow and proliferate, myometrial and UL stem_cells need the presence of differentiated cells with higher levels of hormone_receptors. Myometrial telocytes express oestrogen and progesterone receptors and can form contacts with various cell types, including smooth . . .
