    There was also evidence that EZ55 utilized amino_acids, organic acids, and fatty_acids produced by phytoplankton under certain conditions in these cultures (Fig S9). Both valine and glycine catabolism were also upregulated at 400 ppm in coculture with the two Synechococcus strains, and fatty_acid catabolism was upregulated in co-culture with MIT9312 and CC9311 at 400 ppm pCO2. Valine, fatty_acid, and propanoate catabolic pathways intersect with the formation of propanoyl-coA which in bacteria is generally fed into the TCA cycle through the methylcitrate pathway, which was significantly downregulated at 400 ppm in co-culture . . .
