SUMMARY
Substance use disorders (including alcohol and tobacco) are highly prevalent globally, and commonly occur in the context of other mental health disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In this study, after completing three sessions of MDMAassisted therapy, 67% of the participants in the MDMA group no longer met diagnostic criteria for PTSD (a certain number of criteria from each of the different PTSD symptom categories), compared to 32% in the placebo-assisted therapy group.
