Glutamine addiction promotes glucose oxidation in triple-negative breast cancer

HIGHLIGHTS

  • who: Lake-Ee Quek from the (UNIVERSITY) have published the research work: Glutamine addiction promotes glucose oxidation in triple-negative breast cancer, in the Journal: (JOURNAL) of 18/07/2022
  • what: By contrasting the two subtypes, the authors show that high glutamine-toglutamate overflow-via the TCA cycle-supports glucose metabolism in TNBC subtypes. Together with the 14C data, the authors show how single-pass glutaminolysis engages the TCA cycle and that glutamine-to-glutamate overflow is not merely due to an "overactive" glutaminase. The authors propose that excessive glutamine uptake is exploited by TNBC . . .
