• what: The aim of this study was to identify cis-elements and transacting factors that are important for the transcriptional regulation of the ␣-Tm gene in different muscle cell types. The study demonstrates that the ␣-Tm gene constitutes an additional muscle gene regulated through an MCAT element that can bind TEF-1 protein present in differentiated smooth muscle cells.
