HIGHLIGHTS
- who: Wen-Yu Chung and collaborators from the Center forState University have published the research: A First Look at ARFome: Dual-Coding Genes in Mammalian Genomes, in the Journal: (JOURNAL)
- what: The authors show that although dual coding is nearly impossible by chance a number of human transcripts contain overlapping coding regions. The test is based on the following reasoning: in most standard protein-coding regions (with only one reading_frame), j at the third codon position (j3) is significantly different (higher) than at the first and second codon positions (j12), so that j12, j3 .
