    The ability to sustain effective T_cell immunity relies on a diverse ab heterodimeric T_cell receptor (TCR) repertoire generated by the stochastic variable, diversity and joining (VDJ) recombination mechanism. The encounter with cognate peptide-MHC complex (pMHC) also drives the differentiation of the T_cell. The strength of TCR stimulation can skew differentiation of memory versus effector T_cells and CD4+ regulatory (Treg) versus effector/memory CD4+ cells, linking TCR specificity to phenotype and function.
