    This production is connected to a large number of chestnut shells which represent underutilized agricultural and forestry waste that can be exploited as a significant resource for the production of high-value natural active compounds. In fact, as is known, the chestnut is covered with a shell that represents about 20% of its weight which is removed during the peeling process. The removal of the shell, which is composed of the pericarp (outer shell), integument (inner shell), and episperm, produces multiple agro-residues that can be differently exploited for the extraction of high added . . .
