• What: This work demonstrated a positive correlation between the TyG index and progression to diabetes. The current analysis revealed that the TyG index exhibits a superior ability to predict diabetes risk compared to TG/HDL-C, indicating that the TyG index may be a more useful predictor of T2DM, but the underlying mechanism remains unresolved.
