The authors explored participants` experimentation with conventional tobacco products, trial, uptake and patterns of ENDS use, and their future intentions regarding both ENDS and conventional tobacco products. Contentious areas include whether ENDS support smoking cessation or foster dual use (and thus delay cessation); whether ENDS marketing deliberately targets young never-smokers; and whether use by neversmokers may act as a gateway to smoking.
