SUMMARY

    One avenue to enhance treatment efficacies and options is to learn how the disease agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis regulates gene_expression in response to stress. The main research question the authors are addressing is "how do mRNA metabolism and posttranscriptional regulation of gene_expression contribute to stress tolerance in mycobacteria?" Generally, the first 3 weeks were devoted to DNA manipulation and strain construction, followed by 3 weeks of analysis of gene_expression or growth phenotypes.
