• What: These observations thus construct the research problem for this study which addresses the need for linguistics-related research on gender-based violence in public transport whereby the accounts of victims are explored. This study is focused specifically on observing GVPT through "the locale" and "systemically" (ibid). The main reason for using this approach from the words of Riessman (2008, p 13) is, that a good narrative analysis prompts the reader to think beyond the surface of a text, and there is a move towards a broader commentary.
