    When AYA are newly diagnosed with cancer, the patients are taken into care at an appropriate treatment center with the aims of eradicating, or at least containing, their disease as much as possible, limiting its sequelae, adjusting the patient`s developmental process, and providing the clinical support needed to restore the patient`s overall health. Devising an active role for patients in their treatment pathways can facilitate their compliance, adaptability and psychological well-being, with benefits extending to various aspects of their lives.
