    Anti-retroviral therapy (ART) improves the prognosis for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, but it requires long-term treatment and the maintenance of strict adherence to treatment. To achieve treatment success, 95% adherence is required for early ART; however, recent studies have reported treatment success rates of 98.9% and 96% with adherence rates of 90% or more and 80-90%, respectively.
