Addison`s disease (that is, autoimmune adrenalitis) is the most common cause of primary adrenal insufficiency in developed countries, while long-term administration of exogenous glucocorticoids and prolonged suppression of hypothalamic secretion of corticotropin-releasing hormone is the most frequent risk . . .
