    Food production is dominated by smallholder farming in Sub-Saharan African countries (Gassner et_al, 2019). The inter-related food insecurity and land degradation can be argued to be the most important threat to agricultural livelihood as it contributes to maintaining a poverty trap (Bjornlund et_al, 2020; Nord et_al, 2022b).
