- what: The authors report a chronic wound healing model that can be used to decipher the paradoxical role of cellular senescence in acute versus chronic wound healing. Conversely, the authors report that chronic wounds have higher expression of p21Waf1/Cip1 in all skin layers compared to p16Ink4a, suggesting better specificity of p21 as a senescence marker in pathological chronic wounding.
