HIGHLIGHTS
- who: C LI NI CA and collaborators from the InstitutUniversity of Birmingham , TT, United Kingdom have published the research work: AKR1C3-Mediated Adipose Androgen Generation Drives Lipotoxicity in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, in the Journal: (JOURNAL) of 20/04/2017
- what: The authors explored the hypothesis that increased intra-adipose androgen generation by AKR1C3 is a central driver of adipose_tissue dysfunction and lipotoxicity in PCOS. The authors demonstrated the functional impact of chronic and acute androgen exposure on the regulation of adipose_tissue lipid metabolism, demonstrating suppressed lipolysis in_vivo and increased lipogenesis in_vitro.
