Erickson believed that identity was a primary task of adolescence, resulting from individuals beginning to cope with social and developmental demands while seeking to provide meaning to their life choices and commitments (Bosma and amp; Kunnen, 2008; Hewlett, 2013; Jensen, 2011; McLean and amp; Syed, 2014; Schwartz et_al, 2011; Was et_al, 2009). Adolescents must make important decisions in multiple identity domains, such as education and interpersonal relationships, that lead to identity synthesis or crisis (Albarello et_al, 2017; Branje et_al, 2014; McLean et_al, 2016).
