HIGHLIGHTS
- What: Suggestions Through the review of parental consent procedures for minors accessing GAHT in Australia, this study suggests if the minor has the Gillick competency, they can be considered independently qualified to consent, and do not require a substantially more complex parental consent procedure to receive treatment, to achieve the goal of more prompt and effective treatment outcomes. This study proposes that ethical experts and the hospital ethics committee should be considered and appropriately incorporated to provide a more professional theoretical perspective into practice, while releasing healthcare professionals from unnecessary moral dilemmas and risks.
