- What: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the microstructure characteristics of the GDL on the water flooding and liquid water distribution inside the GDL. This study introduces a novel one-dimensional steady-state mathematical model, based on capillary pressure-liquid saturation interconnection within the GDL of the PEMFC. The authors investigate especially how the porosity spatial distribution (microstructure) influences the liquid water distribution within the GDL, the gas diffusivity and the cell performance.
