According to past studies, such job characteristics may result in some differences in antecedents and outcomes of work engagement between psychiatric nurses and general nurses. A supportive work environment for nursing practice could contribute to fostering nurses` willingness to dedicate more effort into their work, leading to higher levels of work engagement through enhancing extrinsic motivation.
