SUMMARY
The features of target and distractors are not always distinct but can overlap, leading to impaired target processing if a negative attentional set containing these shared features is activated (Boncompte and amp; Cosmelli, 2018; Folk et_al, 2008; Lleras et_al, 2008; Sahraie et_al, 2001; Wu and amp; Fu, 2017). The DIB effect has been attributed to a central inhibition of distractor (and therefore target) features, building up cumulatively with the repeated presentation of to-be-ignored distractors (Niedeggen et_al, 2012; Niedeggen et_al, 2015; Winther and amp; Niedeggen, 2017b).
