HIGHLIGHTS
- What: The authors investigated the impact of deficiency (ASGR1-/-) on atherosclerosis by evaluating its effects on plaque formation lipid metabolism circulating immunoinflammatory response and circulating N-glycome under the hypercholesterolemic condition in ApoE-deficient mice. Given the role of ASGR1 in modulating the recognition of desialylated glycoproteins, which are highly abundant during infection and inflammatory conditions , the authors focused the attention on the investigation of the effect of ASGR1 deficiency on the immunoinflammatory response observed during atherogenesis and appreciated an increase in the inflammatory signature while the plasma N-glycome remained stable during atherogenesis.
