SUMMARY
In consistency with this direction, in 1995 WHO launched the Global School Health initiative to involve more schools that can be described as "Health-Promoting Schools". WHO defined a Health-Promoting School as "a school that is constantly strengthening its capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working". Other terminologies, such as Healthy School and Comprehensive School Health, share the essential elements of Health-Promoting Schools.
