    Previously, the authors compared psychological long-term outcomes between primary school-aged children (t1) who underwent surgery for a VSD in infancy and typically developing children, including assessment of maternal anxiety and proactive parenting behavior as potential moderators. For primary school-aged children, the study team found no differences in cognitive development (IQ scores) between the groups but did observe weaker language skills in children with VSDs. In the study of primary school-aged children, the authors found a trend in mothers of children with a VSD: mothers reported higher HRQOL in their children . . .
