The enduring presence of race in pharmaceutical regulation Studying the changing pattern of use of "race" and "ethnicity" in the medical research literature, Afshari and Bhopal showed that "ethnicity" overtook "race" in the non-US literature in 1976-80 and in the the authors literature some 15 years later. Although some statements reflect the uptake of the authors racial/ethnic standards, such as the use of the compound term "race/ethnicity" or the two-level US racial and ethnic census standard, it is incorrect to reduce the use of race and ethnicity in EU . . .
