HIGHLIGHTS
- What: The aim of this study is to provide a compendium of the developed Mediterranean Karst Aquifer Map and database (MEDKAM; Xanke et_al 2022), based on the International Hydrogeological Map of Europe (IHME1500). In this study, only a selection of the karst features collected for MEDKAM and stored in the database is presented. And outlook This study provides an improved detailed assessment of the spatial distribution of carbonate and evaporite rocks as karst aquifers and other hydrogeological formations in the Mediterranean region and the Mediterranean focus area defined by a 250km zone.
