The chemistry and methods used to extract and amplify DNA may have a direct effect on the efficiency of the amplification process (Frégeau et_al, 2006). Several techniques have recently been available to potentially enhance DNA recovery, like using carrier molecules such as carrier RNA to improve DNA extraction from microfluidic-based silica monolith (Parys-Proszek et_al, 2008).
