SUMMARY

    Type 1 diabetes_mellitus (T1DM) is a chronic autoimmune illness characterized by hyperglycemia caused by insulin deficiency due to the secondary loss of the pancreatic islet bcells. Some studies have found that patients with diabetes_mellitus may be more susceptible to infectious diseases. Liberatore et_al argued that there was no strong relationship between T1DM and the occurrence of infections, and other studies revealed that the relationship between T1DM and infections is bidirectional.
