• What: The research presents significant implications for policymakers and practitioners regarding the rural mutual aid elderly care model. By systematically reviewing historical documents, policy reports and academic literature, the study aims to provide insights into the promotion and realisation of these models within the active ageing framework (Walker and Foster, 2013). To analyse China`s rural mutual aid elderly care model, this study adopts the World Health Organisation`s (WHO) Active Ageing model, focusing on its key domains of health, participation and security.
