Chronic training induces metabolic and proteomic response in male and female basketball players: salivary modifications during in-season training programs

    The authors found a training effect on metabolism related to glutathione biosynthesis in both male and female players, whereas an increase in branched chain amino_acids was observed only in male players. The metabolites identified as significantly associated with chronic training in both male and female athletes are related to amino_acid biosynthesis and translation, as evidenced by modulation of the aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis pathway.
