    Because of its excellent mechanical properties, good chemical resistance, superior electrical insulation, and low cost, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a thermoplastic that is widely utilized in the industries of furniture, construction materials, textiles, and transportation. Because these bio-based plasticizers and phthalate-type plasticizers are sensitive to heat or flame, and can spread fire, their flame retardancy applications are limited to plasticized PVCs.
