SUMMARY

    Overuse of antibiotics, particularly fluoroquinolones (Mller Gundersen et_al, 2019; Gilbert et_al, 2020), may increase the risk of MDR bacteria selection and nosocomial pneumonia, though convincing clinical data to support these possibilities are lacking (Tamma et_al, 2012). Modern pharmacological studies have shown that TCM is rich in active ingredients, less prone to drug resistance, and has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-endotoxic and immune enhancing effects (Han et_al, 2016; Cheng et_al, 2019). Published guidelines for the management of CDBP provide health care practitioners with current, evidence-based standards for antimicrobial therapy, yet even this expert guidance . . .
