- future: Studies are needed to establish the causal link between elevated cAMP activity and dysfunction in glucagon secretion including direct measurement of cAMP levels in u03b1 cells and/or modulation of PKA activity. Future studies will be needed to expand on the mechanisms suggested above through the lenses of u03b1 cell physiology immune signaling and paracrine effects.
