The ability to sense noxious stimuli is crucial for protecting organisms from tissue damage. In rodents, the TRPV1 channel has been widely studied, and its activity is predominantly associated with detection of noxious heat and the development of inflammatory hyperalgesia, whereas in humans, the functional roles of TRPV1 are not entirely clear and rely extensively on clinical phar- macological studies.
