SUMMARY

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) followed by surgery is a standard first-line therapeutic strategy for patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer (EC). While data are promising in several solid cancers - including breast, pancreatic, colorectal, and esophageal malignancies, the questions as to whether the CTCs count may be clinically useful in the identification of EC patients with MaHR after nCRT remains unanswered.
