- What: The authors therefore aimed first, to identify perinatal, physiological, dietary, pharmacological, and environmental exposures associated with the nasal microbiota in preterm infants at mean postmenstrual age of 45 weeks, after hospital discharge, and secondly to compare the microbiota of preterm and full-term infants. While this study design is cross-sectional in nature, it allows comparison with a postmenstrual-age-matched large control group, however this is a single observation at a given time point.
