- what: The authors identified in G. stearothermophilus strain T-1 such PTS systems for cellobiose and galactose and biochemically characterized the corresponding enzymes involved. The authors demonstrate that the bacterium can utilize the b-galactosides lactose and galactosyl-glycerol, using the cellobiose-PTS system together with the bifunctional 6-phospho-b-gal, Gan1D.
