Daily versus twice daily nifedipine for blood pressure control in pregnancy and postpartum

  • What: Given unclear guidance about how in_vitro studies should be applied to the dosage of anti-hypertensive medications in pregnancy, the purpose of this study is to compare 60mg daily (QD) of extended released (XR) nifedipine to 30mg twice daily (BID) for blood pressure (BP) control antepartum and postpartum. The study assesses the application of in_vitro Page 10/13 studies in clinical practice and notes no difference in blood pressure control between daily versus twice daily nifedipine dosing. The study compared two specific dosing regimens of nifedipine in those with a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.
