SUMMARY
Today, climate change, resource exploitation, biodiversity loss, and myriad other pressures threaten marine systems from local to global scales (Halpern et_al, 2015, 2019; Nash et_al, 2017, 2020), with flow-on effects for human wellbeing (Nash et_al, 2021). Recent years have seen increasing calls to better document and understand human dimensions of the ocean and, crucially, incorporate this knowledge into policy and management (Claudet, 2021; McKinley et_al, 2020; Bennett, 2019; Bennett et_al, 2017).
