SUMMARY
Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is a type of diabetes_mellitus (DM) showing overlapping characteristics between type 1 DM (T1DM) and type 2 DM (T2DM), and autoimmunity against insulin-producing pancreatic cells. In the UKPDS3 study, the prevalence of antibodies against pancreatic islets (anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase-Anti-GAD-) was 12% of all patients with T2DM, although the prevalence in patients diagnosed with DM before the age of 35 years could reach 34%. T2DM is the predominant form of adult diabetes_mellitus, and most of the new diagnoses made in Spain take place in Primary . . .
