SUMMARY
Type 2 diabetes_mellitus (T2DM) often coexists with hypertension (DH). A 10.9-year follow-up study in Shanghai found that the coexistence of diabetes and hypertension increased cardiovascular disease risk up to 3.34 times7. T2DM patients with hypertension are at higher risk of developing diabetic complications such as retinopathy and diabetic nephropathy, which increases the burden on families and society8,9.
