The lack of a previously defined standard protocol for the calculation of production costs is one of the main factors that make it difficult to carry out cost analysis in livestock activities. The available tools are aimed at the management of integrated farms and do not consider the costs of feeding the animals, which can represent between 65% and 80% of the production costs of pigs in Brazil.
