Diatom biosilica functionalised with metabolically deposited cerium oxide nanoparticles

HIGHLIGHTS

• What: The authors propose an innovative, ecofriendly approach based on biosynthesis involving unicellular microorganisms such as diatoms, whose cells can incorporate and deposit cerium from the growing medium. As part of the analysis of the optical properties of solid samples, a Jasco V-750 spectrophotometer (Jasco, Hachioji-shi, Japan) was used to measure the absorption spectrum in the UV-Vis range.
