For several decades, the prevalence of obesity throughout the world has risen with many adverse health effects including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndromes. The authors have also used DOSI to monitor adipose_tissue of adult obese individuals as they underwent caloric restriction and reported that absorption and scattering changes track and may elucidate metabolic changes accompanying weight loss.
