HIGHLIGHTS
- What: To take steps in addressing these gaps in the evidence, the objectives of this study were to examine factors associated being discharged from the ED after a selfharm presentation without a referral; and to examine risk of repeat self-harm for those discharged from the ED with and without a referral, as well as care pathways of those not discharged from the ED. The strong association between referral and assessment in the study shows that where patients receive an assessment, they are likely to be referred to next care.
