HIGHLIGHTS
- What: The authors show that tigecycline may be a reasonable surrogate from which clinicians can infer omadacycline and eravacycline susceptibilities even in the presence of doxycycline and resistance. The authors only evaluated phenotypic expression of susceptibilities to the different tetracycline classes and did not evaluate the presence of specific tet genes due to the lack of funding. This study has important clinical implications, but larger follow-up studies, especially with different infectious conditions, are needed to support the findings to allow for absolute clinical applicability.
