    The low T behavior differs, however, as one might expect given the different ground_states exhibited by models with ferro- and antiferromagnetic couplings: in the FM ground_state, all the spins are aligned, while the AFM ground_state consists of alternating up and down spins. In the antiferromagnetic ground_state the spatial configurations thus store one bit of information 46 of 72 about whether the odd or even sites contain up spins. As J1 goes to -∞, the thermal fluctuations become negligible and the system is confined to its ground_state. The system is close to its ground_state and thermal . . .
